Surveying has been started to acquire land for the proposed provincial industrial zone at Kawasoti-1 and Devachuli-15 in Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat Susta). There is about 180 bighas of land in Lokaha area and survey work is underway to set aside this land for industrial area, said Survey Officer Dharmendra Shrestha of Nawalpur Survey Office. Survey Officer Shrestha said that work is underway to prepare the parts and bring them in the name of the government. “Currently, survey work is underway in the name of the government of Nepal. We can complete the survey work in about two weeks,” he said.
According to Tilak Mahat, Federal MP from Nawalpur Constituency No. 2, the work has progressed as per the proposal to build an industrial zone to make it more systematic and develop it as an industrial district. He said that employment and entrepreneurship would further increase in the district as it is being taken forward. He said that the scheme would also help in creating an environment for the establishment of industries and would also help in strengthening the overall economy as big industries would also come.
“As the center of the country is connected to the east-west highway and is close to the Indian border, more large scale industries are attracted here. He said that additional work including preparation of detailed project report (DPR) will be carried out after the completion of land survey work. The Gandaki state government has recently allocated budget for the proposed provincial industrial zone in Lokaha.
