
The Bagmati state government has awarded Meenkrishna Maharjan of Lalitpur, the former treasurer of the National Sports Council (Rakhep), with the state honor medal for his significant contribution to the sports sector. Similarly, the best player in the first Bagmati state sports tournament, Samiraj Thokar, a football player from Makwanpur, has also been awarded the state honor. Bagmati Chief Minister Rajendra Pandey honored Maharjan and Thokar in a program held in Hetouda on Thursday.
Maharjan, who is also a former international karate player, is a former official of the Nepal Karate Federation, a karate trainer and an international referee. He also served as the secretary of the sports department of the Nepali Congress. He thanked me. ‘I did not work for the sake of honor,’ he said, ‘but I will feel proud if the government appreciates the work I have done. I will try my best for the development of sports in the future as well.
