Nepal’s openers Kushal Bhurtel and Asif Sheikh have made a record start against Oman in the ICC World Cup League-2 triangular ODI series. Nepal’s opener Asif Sheikh is unbeaten on 52 off 62 balls with six fours and one six. Kushal Bhurtel is unbeaten on 52 off 70 balls with five fours. This is the third half century of the ODI career of both the openers. Asif has scored his second consecutive half-century. Nepal’s opener has shared a century for the first time in ODIs. Earlier, the highest partnership in ODIs as an opener was 66 runs. Which Asif and Kush did against Oman last year.

Dev Khanal and Dipendra Singh Airy, Nepal’s biggest ODI partners, had scored 129 runs against Papua New Guinea two months ago. Oman captain Jishan Maqsood top-scored with 52 off 100 balls with three fours. Sandeep Gaud scored 47 off 91 balls with three fours and one six. Maqsood and Gaud shared 83 runs for the sixth wicket to lift Oman to 49 for five in 16.1 overs. Nepal’s Karan KC took five wickets for 33 runs in nine overs. This is the second time in Karan’s ODI career that he has taken five wickets. Earlier, Karan had completed the first five wickets of his ODI career against Oman on Thursday.
