
Bangladesh has made it clear that the Padma Bridge is not part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on Friday stating that there was no foreign investment in the Padma Multipurpose Bridge.
The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that the Padma Multipurpose Bridge was built entirely with the investment of the Bangladesh government and there is no financial investment from any bilateral or multilateral body in it. The bridge will be opened to traffic next Saturday. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Padma Bridge will connect 19 districts in the southwest with other parts of the country and will contribute to socio-economic development as well as expansion of regional connectivity.
